Title or Location: Abandoned Farm House
This old farm house is located in Stokes County North Carolina at the base of Hanging Rock. Stokes County has some very rural areas and is a beautiful place to find inspiration for painting. I took the photo 2 weeks ago on a fall day when the trees were changing colors.

Title or Location: Feathered Monarch
The Bald Eagle has been a national emblem of the United States since 1782. These majestic birds of prey embody strength, resilience, and an untamed spirit. My painting is not just about the bird itself, but also about what it represents universally, liberty, power and the untamed beauty of nature. I thank Louise De Masi for inspiring this piece.

Title or Location: Prussian Blue
I created this monochromatic painting of St. Michael the Archangel Church using one pigment. Monochromatic art is unique in that it helps to generate interest in a painting by adding contrasts with dark, light, and mid tones simply by varying the amount of water added to the pigment. This technique is helping me to develop my understanding of values and the subtle variations of a single color.??I thank Paul Clark for his instruction on how to create this piece.?

Title or Location: Lilly
The beauty of watercolor pigments is that they are very versatile. Some colors are transparent, others are opaque. Some stain, others do not. Some even have granulating properties.?When watercolors are used without too much dilution, they create solid layers of color that completely cover up anything underneath. This piece demonstrates the opaque characteristics of certain pigments. Lilly was painted as a gift for a very fine gentleman who is also my friend.

Title or Location: Autumn is Here!
Autumn gives artists the chance to use beautiful warm colours from their palettes. I always find my spirits uplifted as I walk through golden trees. Red, orange and golden yellow and spatter adds texture to the background of this autumn painting.

Title or Location: Hanging On
I love pouring watercolor paints. I poured this and it practically painted itself in no time. I added mulberry leaves that were embedded in some handmade paper I had. That extraction was painfully slow and probably contributed to the naming of this piece!

Title or Location: Mid-century Modern Dreams
I have an interest in Mid-century Modern house designs. Bringing nature into the space through structural elements, including large windows, is wonderful. This watercolor painting is an experiment in connecting values of the structure and the landscape in a harmonizing way that is still exciting to the viewer.
