ARTISTS
Madeline Balser
Madeline loves being around nature, seeing animals and finding peace in the outdoors. She believes there is a lot of inspiration to be found in the environment around us.

She greatly enjoys using different mediums to create, watercolors being one of the most enjoyable wet mediums for blending. She finds painting to be about having fun while centering focus to create something you enjoy. As an old mentor once told her, an artist can never make a mistake!

Madeline Balser is available for private bookings

Private booking offered, Availability varies, I would love for you to contact me for private booking!

Title or Location: Peacock Feather
I have always been fascinated by the beauty and iridescence of peacock feathers. I painted this small, 5x7, piece as a bit of practice and appreciation.

Title or Location: Sunrise at Imagination Bay
9x12 Watercolor This work was inspired by my love of lighthouses. It is not based on any "real" lighthouse, rather an imagined scene. I especially enjoyed painting the sunrise ovedr the ocean.

?Wisdom Hidden in Plain Sight? 12x9 The owl is almost camouflaged, chameleon-like, in the surrounding foliage. A reminder that sometimes the simple, over-looked, or challenging times in life hold the greatest lessons and treasures.

Title or Location: Rowdy
Rowdy belongs to my wonderful friend Richard. Rowdy is 15 and has not been well. I painted Rowdy to give Richard a portrait of his well loved companion. The style is neurographic meets pop art with metallic pigments. The circle around his nose represents Rowdy's elite status as a dog who competes at the American Kennel Club's Detective Scent Work Level.

Title or Location: Cheerful Cardinal Upon a Teacup
I painted this cardinal happily perched on a teacup as a reminder. Through all of the stress and busyness of life it is so easy to get caught up in overthinking and ignore the small beautiful moments all around us like savoring a warm cup of tea, or noticing a tiny vibrant bird outside our window. 9x12 Watercolor

Title or Location: Pilot Mountain
Pilot Mountain is a special place to me in North Carolina. In the past it was a guiding landmark for the indigenous peoples and early settlers. I enjoy painting the mountain often. I was experimenting with Winsor and Newton granulation medium for the first time and really like the texture created by adding to a mixture of paint which I used on the group of trees in the foreground.. The painting is on Arches 140lb rough 10x14 paper.

Title or Location: The photo which is referenced in this watercolor was taken at Aoraki/ Mt Cook National Park by Kavan Chay which made the cut for the 2024 Milky Way Photographer of the Year international competition.
I have always loved watching the milky way, its the brightest out at sea. I have never been able to capture it with a camera. I had this idea in my head about painting a red house on a lonely hill with the milky way above it showing how small we are compared to the universe. Then I came across this shot taken out at Aoraki/ Mt Cook National Park by Kavan Chay and it was like the universe had heard me and given me a reference photo. the watercolor looks nothing like the original photo but I love
