Watercolor Nature Hike and Paint

Sunday 28 April
Goodwill Church Rd - 3pm - 2 Hours
Madeline Balser
We will be hiking about a mile one way up to the cascades preserve, a very beautiful sight layered with rocks, trees, and sometimes even wildlife. The aim is to capture the beautiful water and scenery within the time span allotted. This class will help watercolor painters be able to quickly summarize a scene as it is- it's impossible to catch the beauty of a scene on a different day as weather changes and the scenery may as well.

ARTISTS
Madeline Balser
Madeline loves being around nature, seeing animals and finding peace in the outdoors. She believes there is a lot of inspiration to be found in the environment around us.

She greatly enjoys using different mediums to create, watercolors being one of the most enjoyable wet mediums for blending. She finds painting to be about having fun while centering focus to create something you enjoy. As an old mentor once told her, an artist can never make a mistake!

Madeline Balser is available for private bookings

Private booking offered, Availability varies, I would love for you to contact me for private booking!

Title or Location: Night?s Journey
This watercolor piece is called, Night's Journey. Its purply background reminds me of twilight a time when many ducks and other waterfowl make preparations for nocturnal feeding flights and migratory movements. From heavy bodied ducks like the Saxony or as depicted here, the White American Pekin to colorful and well-known ducks like Mallards and Harlequins, ducks command attention. I'm fascinated with their ability to float on water and then to quickly and effortlessly dive, scooping up grass

This church is in Cades Cove TN. I was inspired to try this painting after a family trip with the in-laws. My wife, Kristy, and my coach/mentor/teacher/friend Craig Todd keep me motivated to learn and encourage me to keep painting.

Like many others, I had began watercolor painting at the start of covid. I am a stay at home wife and mother, and I needed an escape from the real world. Through days and weeks of searching YouTube painting videos, I had finally found "the one". My favorite watercolor artist, Louise De Masi. She's based out of Australia. This painting of a pansy was a tutorial of hers, and it was my first time painting it. I enjoy painting my subjects multiple times, I feel I learn so much by doing it. The only

Title or Location: Peek-a-Boo
Spring is in the air. I have recently been doing some daffodil paintings. For this painting I did a wash and instantly saw the potential for more daffodils and space for the lamb peeking through them. One of my former instructors always said, ?Listen to your painting.? This is exactly what I did here. Possibly, the idea of a lamb was inspired by the season of Easter as well.

Title or Location: Ailsa Craig
Ailsa Craig is an island in the Irish Sea off the Scottish coast. Its a magical place and the colours of the sea and sky can be exquisitely beautiful. One of my favourite places to paint. This is one of a series of paintings I have done of the island.

Title or Location: Northern Lights
This was painted for my granddaughters, who went to Finland last December. The photo I used is one taken by my daughter in law. I loved the way the lights created a green swirl in the sky, framed by the ink black trees and white snow.
